Things to know & Consider with Rendy Marie Photography

For so many of us senior portraits are our first experience in front of a professional photographer.  It can feel a little scary and even overwhelming.  I am here to tell you to relax, with my 20 year of experience and having a recent son graduate myself I know all the feelings from the kid side to the parent side.  I got you!  I’m here to walk you through all the steps and all the decision making..

For starters, seniors make sure you tell your parents when the yearbook deadline is for your school.  Most schools in Humboldt County have a yearbook deadline of November 1st – December 1st, so keep that in mind and check with your school.   We want to schedule senior portrait sessions with enough time for my 3-4 week editing turn around time.  You will want to get the gallery back and have a little time to decide which image you will send in to your school for yearbook.

Sometimes it all seems to come at you really fast.  I get it, thats why you are hopefully here early reading this blog to be on top of it all.   It can be a lot to wrap your head and heart around, especially if you are a parent and it’s just starting to sink it your baby is a senior.  School starts and it’s already time to take senior portraits, if you procrastinate like me it can often be too late to get on the professional photographers books.   So when should you book senior portraits…..put it this way, it’s never too early.  My waitlist is awaiting you!

I really like to start my client experience with a phone call.   Getting that time to have a quick consultation, learn about your child, your family and who I get to capture and create a gallery for helps make the session go smoother and be more unique to you.   A quick phone call also allows all the questions to be answered and my help in choosing the package to fit your needs and budget.   I highly recommend adding an album to all the session you do with me here at RMP.   The albums get the beautiful images we create off your computer and into a gorgeous curated lay flat album to have for a keepsake forever.

Once we choose the best package, then it’s time to choose what you want to wear and what location fits you!  Book any other appointments like hair, make up, nails and make sure if you are ordering any clothes or shoes that you give them plenty of time to arrive.  Once we have those things decided it’s all fun from there.  Scroll through my other blogs for more tips on your senior portrait experience.
